Learning Objectives

Students will be able to identify and match uppercase letters to specific letters (C, K, O, P, S, U, V, W, X, R).

Introduction (5 minutes)

Start with a question: "Can you pick the uppercase letter that matches?" Show the letter 'k' to introduce the concept. Emphasize the idea that each letter has an uppercase and lowercase form.

Explicit Instruction/Teacher modeling (10 minutes)

Learn with an Example: Display the letter 'k' in both uppercase and lowercase. Reinforce the key idea: "Each letter in the alphabet can be uppercase or lowercase." Show the solution: "K and k match. They are the same letter."

Guided Practice (5 minutes)

Distribute the Guided Practice Worksheet: Match Uppercase Letters to C, K, O, P, S, U, V, W, X, R. Allow students to work in pairs or small groups to circle the uppercase letters. Use large letter cards to assist and guide their identification.

Independent Practice (10 minutes)

Distribute the Independent Practice Worksheet: Match Uppercase Letters to C, K, O, P, S, U, V, W, X, R. Instruct students to independently circle the uppercase letters. Monitor and assess for misconceptions and intervention issues.
