Learning Objectives

Introduction (5 minutes)

Start by explaining to students that each letter in the alphabet can have an uppercase (capital) and lowercase form. Present the key idea that uppercase and lowercase letters are the same but written in different styles. Show examples using the letters Aa to Zz.

Explicit Instruction/Teacher modeling (10 minutes)

Learn with an Example: Ask the question: "Pick the lowercase letter that matches G." Present the solution: "G and g match. They are the same letter." Show the distinction between uppercase and lowercase: "This letter G is uppercase, and this letter g is lowercase."

Guided Practice (5 minutes)

Learn with an Example: Ask the question: "Pick the lowercase letter that matches G." Present the solution: "G and g match. They are the same letter." Show the distinction between uppercase and lowercase: "This letter G is uppercase, and this letter g is lowercase."

Review and closing (5 minutes)
